Two years ago today

The KissTwo years ago today I stood on a beach at sunset and married my dream girl. It's hard to believe we've already been married that long! At the same time, it seems like we've done an awful lot in these two years. We got a puppy, got some major projects done around the house, traveled half way around the world, and even managed to have a little baby along the way.

Tonight Charlotte and I will go camping in the mountains, leaving baby Sophie behind for the first time. Last year, we came up with the idea to spend the night of our anniversary somewhere other than our bed at home. I'm looking forward to sharing an evening together and celebrating. Other holidays are a lot of fun: birthdays, Thanksgiving, 4th of July, etc. But I feel more like celebrating our anniversary more than any of the others. After all, I really didn't have much to do with myself being born, I wasn't at the first Thanksgiving, and I am not a signer of the Declaration of Independence. But I did have something to do with Charlotte and me getting married.

I love the life we have made together and feel like I do a pretty good job of being thankful every day. But tonight... we celebrate!

Photos.... Finally

I compiled the "Best of" wedding pictures and posted them in two places. I wanted to add on to our wedding webpage and turn it into a little website, so I did. I made little photo albums with pictures of the Wedding Day and of the Wedding Week in Mexico.

I also wanted to make the photos available online where people can buy prints so I created a few albums in Kodak Easy Share Gallery. Here's the link

Enjoy!!!

Merci Beaucoup!!

I just wanted to write an entry to thank my family in France for the AMAZING video that they put together for our wedding. For those of you who don't know by now, I have a huge family in France (and Holland, too) -- and because of the distance and timing, only a few cousins could make it to the wedding in Mexico. Since my grandmother, Mannick, my mom's 8 brothers and sisters, their spouses, and kids couldn't make it... they decided to put together a video montage of messages from each of the families to send us their best wishes. Martine and her family were in charge of the production work and Folkert and Penelope did a great job with editing and music and everything.

Transitioning back to "Real" Life

I was going to write a nice heartfelt entry thanking everyone for traveling overseas to come be with us on our special day -- but Scott beat me to it! I have a good excuse though: I've been working on photos of the week in Mexico (as well as from our honeymoon in Belize). The professional photographer's photos are in the mail so we won't have those until next week. The ones we do have will be posted soon for all to see. In the meantime, a few of our friends and family have sent us links to online photos albums, we thought we might share them with you all here:

Sally's Album
Sandy's Album
Molly's Album
Val's Album
Megan and Michael's Album

By the way, we're wondering, for those of you who did take photos... could you do us a huge favor and send us a CD of all your pictures. The online albums are great for viewing but we would love to have the hi-res versions. Email us if you need our mailing address. Thanks in advance!!

Belize Aggressor III

Eagle RayOur initial briefing from Captain John of the Belize Aggressor III brought me down, you could say. Three big storms were to roll through, degrading the diving and probably preventing our trip to the Blue Hole. We'd heard of bad weather in Mexico when we first arrived there, but another week of beating the weather geniuses seemed too much to ask. However, after a single day of overcast skies and rain, we enjoyed sun, clear diving conditions, and even made our scheduled trip to the depths of the Blue Hole.

Wedding Week

The Happy CoupleOur wedding week on Isla Mujeres was so fantastic! We started the week with almost twenty people arriving Sunday. Every following day was like Christmas, having our great friends and family trickling in. It was so special to have all our guests take a vacation with us. We had planned so many excursions, but once we got to the beach at Na Balam, we couldn't seem to pry ourselves out of the water! Soon we'd settled into a nice routine of rolling out to bed, heading to the beach, making our way to the Loncheria for lunch, having a siesta, and heading back to the beach for the afternoon before all meeting up in the evening for dinner.

Only Days Away

Well, we're only days away from flying to Mexico now. Our task list of things we need to get done before we leave is shrinking and starting to look manageable. We seem to have a decent handle on things as far as the actual wedding day goes. Now it’s just a matter of surviving these last couple days of work and getting on a plane. It’s been an interesting couple months.

Our Wedding Webpage

Well, I finally gave myself some time away from the new business to work on a personal project -- our wedding webpage! Actually, I stayed up until 4:30am working on it the other night. I had had a few sips of coffee after dinner and with the whole month of detox, my body really reacts to caffeine. I kind of like it. It definitely inspired me, and our pretty little web page is the result. Now our guests have all the details and hopefully the info will be helpful in booking their trips, choosing a hotel and figuring out all the fun stuff they're going to do while they're in Mexico. Yippee. Designing invitations is my next big project. Woohoo.

Some of our family and friends have already booked their flights -- looks like a big group will be arriving at the airport at the same time we do, so we can all head to the island together. For those of you, arriving earlier or later... don't worry, getting to the island is really easy. I'm not sure if we mentioned it, but one of our biggest motivators for having the wedding in Mexico was so that our guests could have a vacation. We felt that it wasn't fair for just Scott and me to have a special day -- we want everyone to have fun! And why make it just one day of fun... why not 3 or 4 or even a week!

Return from Isla Mujeres

Yesterday Charlotte and I returned from Cancun, and I'd have to categorize our trip as a success. We went down there with the single goal of putting together a basic plan for our wedding, and that's just what we did. There are a lot of details yet to be worked out, but it looks like we'll be tying the knot on either June 30 or July 1 on a beautiful Isla Mujeres beach.

Scott Proposes - Charlotte's Story

| | Comments (1)

As many of you know, Scott and I met on a plane nearly two years ago. When I got off that plane I said to my friend picking me up, "that was my future husband."

Today, I got off our flight home from Europe with my "future husband" and a gorgeous ring to prove it.

Read on for the whole story (from my perspective)...
