As I sat writing that last entry... on my laptop which is situated on the coffee table with Peanut asleep in my lap, I thought, hmmm, I wonder if I could set myself up for nursing with the Boppy pillow on my lap (on top of Peanut while she sleeps) and nurse Sophie whilst working on the laptop. Well, it worked! Sophie is sucking away as I type this entry. Of course I had Scott take a photo of the momentous event.
Over the past 5 days, I have spent nursing-time observing this little miracle that lay in my arms. In awe. That and being still new at this I was always checking to see that she was latched on correctly and not fast asleep (which she tends to do quite frequently). But, you know, 5 days with an average of 10 feedings a day (40 minutes each)... and I suddenly feel that she and I are experts at this breastfeeding thing. So, now I'm tempted to "kill two birds with one stone" and entertain myself while she's eating. I tried reading but found it kind of difficult to turn the pages... we can't get ourselves to turn on the tv (yet) so that's out of the question... but, ahhhh, playing on the computer, it works!
Now, feeding time is over and we have to do all the little preparations before being able to get out the door and head to the pediatrician. Wish us luck... it will be a miracle if we make it to our appointment on time!
