Charlotte's cousin Folkert stayed with us last week, his last stop on a quick cross-country trip he undertook after his internship in Montreal. After some discussion, we ended up deciding to go to Moab for the weekend to do a little Western sightseeing.
Friday afternoon we left the house and headed west on I-70. Though it was only the middle of September, there was more snow on the drive than I usually see on our way to go skiing! However, by the time we crossed the continental divide, we were mostly in the clear.
We got to Moab at around 8:15 PM and immediately sought a hotel room. After seeing a few NO VACANCY signs, Charlotte finally asked one of the hotel managers if he knew of any places to stay. Turned out that every place in Moab was booked and that places an hour away were starting to fill up. Luckily, after several phone calls, we were able to book a room up in Green River, UT.
The little lodging snafu was really the only bump in our road trip. We had a lot of fun and got to race through Canyonlands and Arches National Parks, taking lots of photos along the way.
