Wedding Week

The Happy CoupleOur wedding week on Isla Mujeres was so fantastic! We started the week with almost twenty people arriving Sunday. Every following day was like Christmas, having our great friends and family trickling in. It was so special to have all our guests take a vacation with us. We had planned so many excursions, but once we got to the beach at Na Balam, we couldn't seem to pry ourselves out of the water! Soon we'd settled into a nice routine of rolling out to bed, heading to the beach, making our way to the Loncheria for lunch, having a siesta, and heading back to the beach for the afternoon before all meeting up in the evening for dinner.

The bachelor party was a night to remember, or so I'm told! Actually, Justin put together a lot of fun that night. Toward the end of it all, we met up with the girls for some good times, culminating in our running naked from the Policia (or were they security guards) during a midnight skinny dip. I believe there are some pictures from the night's events that are out there. Guess there'll be no running for public office for most of us.

The wedding day itself was one of those days that keeps replaying itself in my head. I remember racing around with my clothes, trying to get a shower while Charlotte, Emilie, and Brigitte readied themselves in our room. A water outage at the hotel nearly doomed my attempts before a last second reprieve. I understand Mike wasn't so lucky in his showering... I remember my first seeing Charlotte in all her radiance. She's beautiful to me every day, but I'll never forget how she looked that night. I remember racing around with Charlotte and our photographer before the ceremony in a Honda Civic, posing for photos before the colorful buildings of Isla Mujeres. I remember walking my grandmother down the aisle and how special that was that she could be there to celebrate with us. I remember exchanging rings and vows with Charlotte on the beach during an amazing sunset ceremony that made us husband and wife. I remember the heartfelt speeches of my best man, Justin, and Charlotte's maid of honor, Emilie.

I'd like to thank everybody who made this week possible and shared it with us. We'll certainly remember our time on Isla Mujeres for the rest of our lives.
