Only Days Away

| | Comments (9)

Well, we're only days away from flying to Mexico now. Our task list of things we need to get done before we leave is shrinking and starting to look manageable. We seem to have a decent handle on things as far as the actual wedding day goes. Now it’s just a matter of surviving these last couple days of work and getting on a plane. It’s been an interesting couple months.

At first, the wedding was this kind of abstract concept. The date was just too far in the future to represent anything real. Then about a month ago I started to realize something – getting married is a pretty big deal! It took a week or two for that feeling to settle in and then I was in this in-between phase. I was ready to get married, but I couldn’t do it just then because the wedding was still weeks away. At this point the wedding date was still far enough off that I felt no urgency to get things done, but it was close enough that I was having trouble thinking about anything BUT the wedding. I guess it’s a procrastinator’s worst nightmare. Finally the wedding got to be so close that we had no choice but to get up off our butts and do something about it.

Now that we’ve got so much work done and are only days away from boarding that flight, all I feel is excitement. I look forward to getting down to beautiful Isla Mujeres and wading into the clear blue water. I will be thrilled to see friends and family trickle in throughout the week. Finally, I’m thankful that I get to marry Charlotte. It’s been a great journey with her so far. This wedding marks the end of one phase of our journey and the beginning of the next. I can’t wait.

I am back from the wedding and I will be e-mailing again when both of you Scott and Charlotte are back from Belize to tell you what a wonderful time we had. Today is July 4th and I wanted to still be on Isla Mujeres so I read the two sites again and here I find Alexandria, Sally and Megan on the same spot! Thank you all for coming.
