Under Contract!

With yesterday's events behind us, we put an offer in on this place (also in Golden). One counter-offer later and we're under contract!

It's quite a relief to get this done, as we're supposed to be out of the loft in exactly four weeks. Why Golden, you might ask? That's an interesting story...

Well, Charlotte works down in the Denver Tech Center and I work in Superior. They're not exactly that close to each other. We wanted some place that was sort of equidistant. That left us with a lot of choice still, but we narrowed down on Stapleton, The Highlands, and Golden pretty early in the process.

Stapleton left Charlotte and her sister (when she visited) with a sort of Desperate Housewives vibe. Maybe it was the less-than-mature landscaping. I liked it, but Charlotte wasn't so into it. Next!

The Highlands is this cool little urban neighborhood about 10 minutes from LoDo and downtown. Lots of character, very mature landscaping, and a nice town center at 32nd and Lowell. For some reason we weren't able to find a place there that I really clicked with. It seemed like everything that was fixed up was really expensive and everything affordable needed lots of work. Lots of people are into fixing up their houses, but that didn't appeal to me, so that pretty much ruled out that neighborhood.

That brings us to Golden, headquarters of the Coors Brewing Company. Golden is nestled up against the foothills, has a nice town center, and provides excellent access nearly everywhere in the metro area except Aurora. Instead of distant views of the mountains, we'd have the mountains right out the back door. In fact the neighborhood we really targeted, and ended up in, even has a hiking trailhead branching off one of its sidewalks!

In the end, though we know that we could end up somewhere else down the road, we feel like we could be here for a long time.
