Moving on...

| | Comments (4)

As many of our faithful readers know, yesterday was our big move day. With one small exception, which was quickly resolved, everything went amazingly smoothly. I closed on the loft at 9:00, and by the time that was over, Charlotte and the moving company had us completely moved out. Afterward, we drove over to Lakewood for the closing on our new house. That was finished by 1:30 and we dashed out to Golden to get the truck unloaded. By 2:30 PM the movers were finished and gone. We spent the rest of the evening settling in to the new place.

Last Dance in LoDo

Well, there wasn't so much dancing going on but there sure was a lot of partying! This was our last chance to take advantage of the loft's prime location in the heart of lower downtown (hence "LoDo" for those of you who aren't familiar with the area) and a block away from Coors Field. The Rockies were playing the Cubs -- which was a nice incentive for the handful of friends that we have from the Chicago area -- and for the rest of them, I guess, a party was incentive enough!

The night's schedule of events: pre-game party at the loft, baseball game (the Rockies won), back to partying at the loft where we ran out of beer and ended up raiding the liquor cabinet (our motto: "the more bottles we empty, the less Scott and I have to move"), out to the bars for a drink or two, and then back to the loft for more partying and a mean game of "Go Fish!"

Visiting Northville II (Michigan)

Indeed, it was a house full of crazy kids, but all the more fun because of it! They're so fun to observe... from the absolute peace you feel from watching a 3-month old sleeping and the warm, fuzzy feeling you get when she smiles, to the hilarity of a 3-year old running around in circles yelling in Spanish "I am a pastry and I talk with my ears."

Scott and I are excited to have kids of our own one day... but we think we'll wait a while. :)

Visiting Northville (Michigan)

Will and SydneyCharlotte and I just got back from a trip to Northville to see family. My sister, her husband, and two of my step-sisters were there at the same time, so we were able to visit with them and all their children in addition to my mom, the Almeister, and my grandma.

Over the past few years it's been a little tradition that everybody tries to make it to Michigan in August as our family grows and grows, and we were happy to make the trip.

Under Contract!

| | Comments (3)

With yesterday's events behind us, we put an offer in on this place (also in Golden). One counter-offer later and we're under contract!

It's quite a relief to get this done, as we're supposed to be out of the loft in exactly four weeks. Why Golden, you might ask? That's an interesting story...
