As many of you know, Scott and I met on a plane nearly two years ago. When I got off that plane I said to my friend picking me up, "that was my future husband."
Today, I got off our flight home from Europe with my "future husband" and a gorgeous ring to prove it.
Read on for the whole story (from my perspective)...
We were on the plane on our way home from Paris. Scott got up to go to the bathroom (or so I thought) and a few minutes later there was an announcement on the loud speaker. The stewardess said "We have a passenger from seat 12A who would like to make an announcement."
I heard Scott's voice, loud and clear, on the speaker, "I'm sorry to disturb your flight but this will only take a moment. Almost 2 years ago, I met a wonderful woman on a flight from Atlanta to Denver... the beautiful Charlotte Iest, sitting in seat 12B... and I would like to take this opportunity to propose marriage to her."
The whole plane applauded.
He was all the way in the back of the plane, while I was in the front (we somehow got bumped up to business class -- just good luck I guess)... so while he made his way down to me, the stewardess in our section asked "well, what's your answer... we all want to know." I said, "of course... yes." And she announced to everyone, "She said yes."
The sound of my heartbeat thumping muted the second round of applause, I looked straight ahead, blushing, too nervous to face the crowd.
Still no sign of Scott. The other steward asked if I wanted a beverage. "Champagne?" I asked. "Oh, I think they're taking care of that for you," he responded.
Finally, Scott appeared, kneeling in the aisle beside me. He took my shakey hand in his and placed a beautiful diamond ring on my finger...
"I'm shaking and my heart is beating so fast," I said. "Mine too," he responded, while hugging and kissing.
It wasn't until he sat back down beside me that he asked again, "so, will you marry me?"
"Yes... of course."

I am speechless...
Very happy for both of you.
Love. Brigitte
